The Vravrona is an important archaeological site in Attica, famous for the Temple of Artemis which has given its name to the modern municipality of eastern Attica and adjacent to the coastal village of Lucia (current name Artemis). It was built in a small bay on the coast of the South Evian Gulf, near the present village of Loutsa. Inhabited since the Neolithic era. At the time of Theseus (the Bronze Age) the Vravrona was one of the 20 municipalities that joined and later became the Athenian state. Vravrona gradually evolved into a place of worship of Artemis temple was built there.
